John Thacker as kept his
clean sheet by winning his 3 in a row in the last 4 years. But he was
nearly denied it after Wakeling took the early lead with Kris Hudson
chasing. Clark the Entertainer had his usuall races and once again lost
his front end going through the bends.
27th July 2010 -
Hudson takes is Second win in Europe.
Kris Hudson kept his winning
streak going in Holland behind the wheel of a Kart in the local Karting
Centre. The racing pack behind Hudson was changing every lap but Bell
came out in 2nd with Veltman take the final spot on the podium.
27th July 2010 -
Hudson takes is first Win in Belgium.
Kris Huson took his first
win of the season at Maasmechelen after winning all 3 heats in the blazing
hot European heat. Kris was just too quick for second place Richard
Wakeling and Griffin managed to utilise the Joke lap to come home 3rd
after a terrible start with electrical problems.
7th July 2010 -

SUNDAY 13th JUNE 2010
The MDA is helping to organise a fun event at Blyton Circuit on Sun
13th June, following on from the British Rallycross Championship round
of the previous night.
Sunday Test Day from 10-00 am until 4-30 pm
Cars will run in groups of 4 or 5 per session and each group will have
around 6 sessions during the day.
The event is open to all classes and costs;
£45-00 for MDA and BTRDA Members
£80-00 for Non Members (If you are not a member of the MDA then
join on the day for £20-00 and save yourself some money)
NORASPORT Championship Final 2010
This is also the final of the Norasport Blyton Masters Championship
and is great fun to watch. For the uninitiated these are Drakart Superlight
buggies some with monster 2 stroke power. They come in two classes and
put on a great show. They are loud and spectacular to watch. Anyone
in an RX150 fancy taking them on?
Test Drives
Junior and Senior Minicross cars will be available to test drive and
there will be other cars testing on the day including the new BMW MINI
Rallycross car.
Passenger Rides
There will be passenger rides available in a variety of cars from the
MDA. There will be a small charge for these rides to help cover costs.
It gives a great opportunity to those who rarely get to experience the
fantastic thrill of being in a real Rallycross car on the circuit. Passengers
must have a suitable helmet and clothing - no shorts or T shirts!
Registered Competitors
Any driver who is registered for the MDA, BTRDA or British championship
can also take their loved ones out in their own Rallycross car for a
nominal fee. This will give you the opportunity to show your team, family
or friends exactly what you get up to on the circuit. Conditions apply
and sensible precautions will be taken. We do not want anyone getting
hurt!
Chuckle Buggy Grand Master Challenge Race
This was a popular event last year and Paul has kindly offered to host
the event again. Entry fee for this year will be £10-00 and the
event will challenge even the very best drivers to the limit as they
try to negotiate a specially laid out route in one of LMS Entertainments
Chuckle Buggies. Against the clock and trying to avoid penalties for
hitting markers or leaving the track drivers can only steer these unique
vehicles by way of levers...yes sound tactics are the best way to go
but hey we're talking Rallycross and Norasport drivers here so watch
out!!
Reverse Steer Grand Challenge
New for 2010 is the grand reverse steer challenge. I know a lot of
you pride yourselves on your high levels of driving skill and your ability
to make your car go exactly where you want it to go on the track. Well
if you are up for it put your reputation on the line and take the challenge
of negotiating round a specially laid out course in LMS Entertainments
unique reverse steering car. Entry is £10-00 and from the funds
raised we will donate a sum to a local charity.
The organisers will also be presenting awards and trophies for a variety
of cars and drivers during the event. These trophies will be presented
to the lucky recipients in a special awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

The Next Round of the MDA
Edwardes Bros Clubmans Rallycross Championship goes Dark. It is going
to be run at Blyton and under Flood Lights. The event will be starting
mid after noon going into the night with the finals being run in full
darkness.
This is not the first time
the MDA has run in the dark, they first tried it a few years ago down
in London and one of the recomendations was lack of light in the car.
This has been taken a step further and the following has been suggested
by the Edwardes. Please see below.
Flexible LED Strips.
These could work well for the night race if people wanted to put them
on the cars. The are roughly 1 meter in length in "brilliant white"
but can be cut to make them smaller. They were thinking about using
2 and placing them around the front grill which looks quite good or
in the gully above front windscreen. They run off the 12v battery at
4.2w, we were just going to attach them with a bit of Mastic so they
can be removed easily. Price is around £15 (per strip). Pleasecontact
Jonothan at 01622 690884 (work number).
The Next Sprint / Fun day
is not far away, there has been a slight change to the date and it is
now being run on the Sunday as opposed to the Saturday. May 23rd at
the Blyton Sprint Circuit.
This will be part of the
MDA All rounders Championship. Entry is £85
If you need any further
information please Contact Ron Watson or Mike Yates.
Please note there will be
no over night camping on the Saturday.
MDA Dinner Dance Date has
been set for this year on the 6th November 2010. It will be held at:
-
The Olde Barn Hotel
Toll Bar Road
Marston
Lincolnshire
NG32 2HT
Tickets will be £35.
Double rooms B&B are £60.
If you are going to stay the Friday & Saturday they will honor
the £60 for each night. There is a spa at the hotel which is complimentary
to residents.
The MDA AGM will be held at 14:00 at ‘The Olde Barn Hotel’
anybody that is not seated at 14:00 will not be allowed in.
10th May 2010 -
Clark Takes his first Win of the Season
The Minicross category was
won by Ben Clarke who took the lead on the first lap and never looked
back, Tom Edwardes coming second just ahead of brother George. 2009
Champion Kris Hudson came home forth chased by Mark Griffin and David
Bell. B-Final winner Kelly Bird took seventh place. Malcolm Dikinson
Retired after competing in his first Mini Cross race at the end of Heat
3 with engine trouble. Keifer also retired at the end of Heat 1 with
engine trouble after making a good start and out pacing the 2009 Champion,
his Brother.
24th April 2010
- 2009 MDA Champion take his first win
Kris Hudson took his first
win of the season at the Knockhill Rally Cross circuit this weekend
which challenged all the 11 Senior Mini Crossers who made the long haul
to Scotland. It was not to be George Edwardes Day as he became the first
casualty of the loose section of the track. The first heat was run under
very wet conditions but the 2nd and the 3rd got dryer and dryer. But
that all changed for the finals which saw Ben Clark Take Pole, with
heaby rain pouring down on the track. But it played into Kris hand as
he took the win, leaving a few stranded cars around the circuit who
also came casualty's of the wet and bumpy track.
Please see the 2nd new button

The MDA will be holding
there first event of the year at Blyton on the 11th of April. It will
consist of the new Tarmac circuit, which includes sections from the
Rally Cross Paddock and Gridding up area.
Entry forms to follow shortly.
14th
March 2010 - Wakelings Waffles. And Tales from the seat.
Well the season started
with the usual late night, what is it with us racers, we have months
off and still never get the cars done until the last minute, mind you
there are one or two (no names mentioned…..but you know who you
are!!!!) who managed to get to bed on time . The weather was good (but
freezing) for our return to Lydden, this isn’t just the home of
British Rally it is quite amazing as a circuit. The changes since we
were last there are an improvement, and it is hard work to get it right(
that’s my excuse…just the first).
Meeting was run under European rules , one free practice then a timed
practice (Yeah…extra track time), start lights that just flash
on, only these were a bit slow compared to what we’ve seen in
Belgium and Holland, and one or two people still waited for the light
to go out….good job the lights were bright!!!!.. Dolt. Only one
grid of four or five , straight across the front row, and the next heat
still based on times, and so on to the final where you were formed up
3*2*3.
Before we get too far in here we need a big THANK YOU to Ron Watson
for all the preseason work with regulations, both technical and championship,
plus the liaison work with Andy Bedford (BTDRA) and Amy Doran (LHMC)
so to combine all this stuff and move house is pretty much taken all
his time of late, and it all came off just in time, an amazing top job.
Practice set the scene early on , and a quick trip through the gravel
for yours truly saw the money on the old man quickly disappear , still
didn’t get stuck there and I maintain “just testing the
grip”!!!! Once the times were published, it showed Ben Clarke
on hot form a full second quicker than anyone else, and the other young
guns going good, the OF hanging on and the ladies respectfully close.
By this time Kelly had decided she didn’t like the senior car,
which needless to say had Dad expressing allsorts!!!!. Never mind ,
whilst there are a few people around that have got the hang of the dear
little things, the races that followed showed just how difficult it
is to get the Mini-xers round fast without mistakes.
I’m starting with the final, what a race, this has to be one of
the seasons best, the first 4 within 1.5 seconds, this is how it goes,
Front row Ben, George, Kris, Me an Tommy row 2, Sam and Kelly next.
Me at position 4 I like, always a good blocking place to have so long
as you can gate better than Ben, Go, Ben a good start, George derr (go
when the lights come on….how many times have you been told….streuth…he’s
even seen this in Holland…..) slow away again, Kris excellent
from pos 3 gave Ben a hug round Chessons for the lead, me I did everything
I wanted, 3rd in Bens boot, but alas that’s about the best of
my race!!, George continued backwards, Tommy stayed not too wide, to
take 2nd on the exit of Chessons so order was KH, TE, BC, GE, RW, KB,
SE. this lasted…not long.. Kris gets too enthusiastic into paddock,
wide, Tommy and Ben, thank you, through, this lasted at least 5 seconds,
into Chessons Tommy too hard, Ben, and the rest through, thank you,
TE now 5th, George has also moved to 2nd so of Chessons L2 BC, GE, KH,
RW, TE, SE, KB. Not for long… into devils elbow Sammy tries the
loose bit and Kelly moves up, thank you. By now George is putting some
serious pressure on Ben, and they had at least half a second on Kris,
George first into paddock, this lasted at least 5 seconds!!! Ben then
goes round the outside of George on Chessons, + Kris also gets alongside
George but slightly out of position, so stays 3rd, same corner, Tommy
cuts back under RW, and Sammy tries round the outside of Kelly, now
then cos the front 3 dog fight and Tommy puts in a blinding L4 , the
lead 3 becomes 4, at this stage at the front BC, GE, KH, TE, with at
least 2 seconds between them, but they just would not settle, Ben could
not break free, his previous smoothness had been truly ruffled, there
was no rhythm in this race, just flat out racing, and it had not finished,
out of devils George gets on Ben and again gets inside him down the
hill ,and completes the move into Paddock, so GE,BC, KH, TE, onto Chessons,
George tries to go safe, Ben goes for a last gasp round the outside,
Kris also goes wide in, both know this has worked in this race, but
Ben is too fast and gets too wide, Kris also runs wide but not so much,
and Tommy nails it in tight, cos there is loads of space, well Ben would
have made better progress with a bucket and spade!!!, Kris nailed him,
but Tommy got em both, amazing, Also Sammy’s having another go
at Kelly who hangs on by her teeth. So George from Tom from Kris from
Ben from me, from Kelly from Sammy….what a race and not a spot
of paint swapped…absolutely excellent. The race was the talk of
the meeting, Ben obviously won’t be happy, but ultimately his
desire to win, won over common sense, he was never going to settle for
2nd and paid the price. Top man. Kris made a blinding start, and drove
a Champions race, always there, but never a gap, he’ll be doing
the “what if” . What an amazing start for the Edwards team,
the first time they have ever raced against each other, to gain the
old 1-2, will not be easy, both raced excellently, for George to pass
and repass Ben will help him, shame about the start!!! Tom first time
out in a car he has prepared himself over the winter, and built his
own engine, a great achievement, he did pass more people than anyone
, from 5th to second , back to 5th, back to 2nd. Sam and Kelly had a
race long duel, with Sammy lapping a little quicker but mistakes cost
her and Kelly took her chances well. From my point I just raced bad,
and hope to sort that out fairly quick, cos I want to get in amongst
the young guns.
So now consider this, Kiefer broke his gearbox and was in the mix,
but will be next time, John Thacker didn’t get his car finished,
but will have by next time, Mark Griffin, has sorted out his car and
will be with us next time.
Having been part of the first final , it would be a brave man to predict
how this season is going to pan out, but it will be very exciting….can’t
wait.
So what else, a few facts Ben had fastest lap time, 53.58 ht3, and
was quickest each time, except ht2 where he punctured….too soft…Lydden
penalises softies. Time wise George got close with a 53.62 in ht2, this
heat being the only time George actually managed a start!! Sammy started
the day right on the pace posting several 55second laps but she ran
wide into paddock in ht1 got out of shape, clipped a marker and then
proceeded to do a NOSE stand, where I have to say everyone got a clear
look at her bottom!!!! The down side was that she bit her tongue and
hurt her back, needless to say she was a little more cautious after
that, but still had some blinding battles with Kelly. Kelly, having
early on given the old man some cause for concern got on with the job
and trimmed 3 seconds of her early lap times…..Kiefer clearly
showed why he was a front runner in the juniors, putting in several
54 sec. laps , prior to the gearbox busting. Tommy also managed a non
finish when he beached the Mini on the inside bank at Chessons. The
bumps at Lydden are small woops that definitely tests the suspension
fully, something that we have not been used to, so this season will
need some set up changes from track to track. There is no doubt that
this season offers a great set of tracks. It was great to be welcomed
back to Lydden and I know the racing we provided was first class. Me
I can’t wait, after the meeting (just like Sammy) my old back
told me the set up was poor, but the racing cleared my head of a load
of rubbish (mostly rattled brain…what’s left anyway) and
I felt invigorated.
BRING IT ON….see you soon X’ers.

- Kelly Bird Attends Auto Sport Show.
I was on the Go Motorsport
stand with my car at the 2010 Autosport International Show. The Go Motorsport
stand was specifically for under 17s, everyone on the stand was trying
to promote different types of junior classes in motorsport. My car was
displayed in senior minicross spec as at 16 young drivers can move up
into a variety of motorsport. I was interviewed Martin Brundle, which
was exciting, it was great for him to spend time and show an interest
in junior motorsport.
I was promoting, the MDA
Rallycross Championship, Junior Rallycross and women in motorsport.
There was a lot of interest on the stand, many people were interested
in the MDA Rallycross Championship, Junior Rallycross and also the hire
cars, which was fantastic to represent.
Hopefully the hire cars
will be a great success this year along with the championship. I would
like to thank Amy Doran, Jonathan Gill and my dad, Paul Bird for there
help.

The year is nearly at a close and it has been another race packed year
which saw one of the wettest seasons in the last 5 years. Nearly all
race meetings had some rain at some point, including the European weekends.
However it was Kris Hudson and Brad Bailey who took the honors of 2009.
To which it has not been confirmed if they are returning in their respective
classes in 2010 to defend their titles.
2010 is getting closure and with the calendar being announced soon
memberships are already been taken for 2010. The European Weekend/Week
has been booked between 11th and 18 July 2010. Ferry Deals will be on
offer and as always race entry is free. Please speak to Mark Griffin

Novemeber 2009 - Press Release from Kelly Bird - Junior Minicrosser
On
Sunday the 18th of October, Rallycross came back to Mallory Park after
a 30 year break. We went there to run the car and have some fun. The
circuit layout was fantastic, although it cut up badly on the new loose
surface as the day went on. The racing was hassle free all day in a
good atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome by all the other
competitors..
I managed to win my first Rallycross trophy, achieving 2nd place in
the British Championship Junior A final, which is supported by the Bill
Gwynne Rallyschool.
Thanks must go to the Mallory Park Organisation, Lydden Hill Motor Club
and the Doran family for bringing back Rallycross to Mallory. Once the
loose surface is sorted out I think it will be great Rallycross track
in the centre of the country, easily accessible by all competitors.
The live television coverage from Motors TV was brilliant as they interviewed
a wide range of competitors.
06/11/09
Miniworld action day Sat 26th Sept 2009 - Castle Combe
circuit Wilshire
Hello all,
for those minicrossers who
attended, then you know what a great day we had at the Miniworld Action
day at castle combe
it was the first time the
MDA have attended the show as a club and it was a bit of an unkown as
to how the day would turn out.
Things started at 0900 with
doors opening and plenty of visitors – nearly all of them in minis,
arrived.
There were club stands,
which we were part of and the main area, with all of the big trade stands
with all of those shiny bits that you think you need to buy. Amongst
all of this were plenty of “autojumble” bits for sale, crates
full of carbs - Any HIF for £15 was the bargain of the day.
The main event was the “50
years mini” parade lap at lunchtime with a world record attempt
at getting the most minis doing a lap at once. Plenty of minis but not
sure about the record?!
Throughout the day, the
track saw a strwam of minis only in various states of tune, BEC, Mighty
minis and bill richards blue clubman which was about the fastest all
day, and of course the MINICROSS cars!
Each hour of the day was
split into 15min slots and anyone with a mini could pay £35 to
race round the circuit for as many times as your car would take it!
– with a 4.1 diff the straights were a bit long but I found that
the minicross cars were plenty fast enough around the corners.
About 20 cars at a time
went out which included Sunday drivers – track day minis –
and everything in between.
The recovery trucks were
busy and at least 2 minis were involved in a smash which looked like
they were both written off!
Neil wade kicked the day
off with the first 15 min session in the new mini on avons, which he
clearly enjoyed, the New mini looked well suited to the tarmac making
circuit racing it an additional bonus for anyone taking the new mini
route in the future.
David bell took his hire
drive mini out (about 8 times!!!) with a passenger seat fitted and scared
a few passengers, I think sammy and Jonathan edwardes even went out
with him!!
Mark Flannagan tried his
luck in Sammys car and after spinning it in a corner, said “Its
not as easy as it looks is it?”
The Edwardes family were
out in force and all having a go at driving. The car came back sounding
poorly after the first session but the fault was swiftly fixed and car
back out for more.
485 Ian “entertainer”
Clark was upto his old tricks and after the drivers briefing, (no overtaking
in corners - do not go on the grass – no sliding round corners
etc..) was crowd pleasing again.
Quote from member of public “are you going out again today?”
So the entertainer, Dave
bell and Neil wade took the last slot at 4pm and managed to “accidentally”
go on the grass – take out the “start overtaking”
signs whilst sideways side by side in a corner!!! Great stuff and there
was not much which bothered the minicrossers who put on a cracking demo
for the club watched by thousands of mini fans.
A mention must go out to
the Redditch mini owners club aka Tom Collet, James collet (ed’s
brothers!) and the boys, who arrived in minis and all went out on track
together – it was messy – tom loosing a front tyre mid corner!
Many thanks to the wades
for putting in the effort to arrange it all, setting up the stand and
talking to many interested mini fans.
Event the sun came out which
topped off a great day all round.
Recommended to anyone after a bit of a blast round the track in exchange
for a couple of hours talking to people on the MDA stand.

- Pembrey - Round six and seven report (July 25th & 26th)
It
was a weekend of contrasting weather with Saturday taking place in glorious
sunshine and Sunday in torrential rain as the 2009 Fuchs Lubricants
Rallycross Open Championship and MDA Edwardes Bros Minicross Championship
entered the closing stages of the season.
Bradley
Bailey dominated the Junior category at Pembrey winning all but one
of the heats, before going on to notch up wins on both days in the Chris
Birkbeck Rallyschool Junior Minicross Open Championship and Fuchs Lubricants
Junior Minicross Challenge. The two victories moved the Essex driver
to the top of the standings, opening up a seven point margin over Keifer
Hudson, who finished second on both days.
Simon
Quinn moved into third place in the Championship despite being put out
of the event on the first day with engine failure. Paul Barrett finished
third overall on both days on his return to the Championship following
his big roll at Nutts Corner back in April.
Six drivers emerged from Pembrey in contention for the Minicross Championship,
despite a win for Championship leader Kris Hudson on the opening day.
It had looked like Hudson was on his way to securing his first Minicross
title, but a sixth place finish in the A final on day two ensured that
the title battle would go down to the wire. Mark Griffin and Neil Wade
completed the podium on day one, before Ben Clark claimed victory in
the heavy rain on the second day ahead of David Bell and Griffin. George
Edwardes saw his title ambitions take a heavy blow, managing only a
fifth place finish on the Sunday.

Kris
Hudson became the fourth different winner in as many events, as Blyton
Circuit in Lincolnshire played host to round four of the 2009 Fuchs
Lubricants Rallycross Open Championship & 2009 MDA Edwardes Bros
Minicross Open Championship. Hudson recorded a lights to flag victory
ahead of David Bell and Neil Wade. Edward Collett finished fourth overall
ahead of Ben Clark, Mark Griffin, Chris Cairns, Nick Thornhill and Martin
Knowles. The win for Hudson also moved him into the lead of the Championship
ahead of Griffin and Clark.
Bradley
Bailey broke Keifer Hudsons strangle hold on the Chris Birkbeck Rallyschool
Junior Minicross Championship with an emphatic victory ahead of Chris
Ingram. Championship leader Hudson, caused a red flag in the A final
after hitting the tyre wall in the third lap of the race. Kelly Bird
retired with mechanical problems, while Sam Kinirons did not make it
to the startline for the final. Bailey also recorded victory in the
Fuchs Lubricants Junior Minicross Challenge ahead of Ingram and Kinirons.

- Edwardes and Clark win in Northern Ireland - Griffin leads title race
Nutts
Corner played host to rounds two and three of the 2009 Fuchs Lubricants
Rallycross Open Championship and the MDA Edwardes Bros Minicross Open
Championship, as Rallycross returned to Northern Ireland for the first
time in five years.
Keifer
Hudson maintained his 100% winning performance in the Chris Birkbeck
Junior Minicross Rallycross Open Championship which allowed him to open
up a Championship lead of seven points ahead of Bradley Bailey. Bailey
recorded a second and third place finish over the weekend, which he
backed up with a win in the Fuchs Lubricants Junior Challenge. Simon
Quinn finished fourth on the Saturday and second on the Sunday, with
fellow Irishman Sam Kinirons putting in a much improved performance
to record a podium finish on both days in addition to winning the Fuchs
Lubricants Junior Challenge on the Sunday.
Mark
Griffin moved into the lead of the MDA Edwardes Bros Minicross Championship
with two solid finishes, but it was George Edwardes and Ben Clark that
shared the headlines as race winners. Edwardes completed his graduation
from the Junior category with a controlled drive to take his first event
win, which moved him into second place overall in the Championship.
Kris Hudson, Dave Cox and John Thacker all finished on the podium during
the weekend, while 2009 Championship runner up David Bell was left with
it all to do after having a weekend plagued with gear ratio and engine
problems.
Round
four of the Championship takes place at Blyton Circuit on Sunday May
17th.

- Thacker wins opening round of the Championship
The
MDA Edwardes Bros Minicross Open Championship, which got underway at
Croft Circuit last weekend, lived up to its pre-season hype of being
one of the most open Championships for years. It was Championship returnee
John Thacker who claimed the win ahead of Mark Griffin, Neil Wade, Ben
Clark and Kris Hudson. George Edwardes enjoyed a strong first event
in the senior class finishing eighth overall, which included setting
the fastest time in the third round of heats.
Keifer
Hudson enhanced his reputation further by taking wins in the Chris Birkbeck
Rallyschool Junior Rallycross Open Championship category and Fuchs Lubricants
Junior Challenge. Bradley Bailey finished as the runner-up in both races,
with Irishman Simon Quinn completing the podium in the Open Championship
and Chris Ingram doing likewise in the Fuchs Lubricants Junior Challenge.
Quinn had finished second on the road in the Fuchs Lubricants Junior
Challenge, but an incident with Sam Kinirons led to the stewards applying
a ten second penalty to his race time, dropping him to the back of the
pack.

- MDA launch new one make MINI Cooper Rallycross formula
The
Minicross Drivers Association unveiled a new MINI Cooper Rallycross
car last week at Teesside Autodrome, which will form the basis for a
new one make Rallycross formula in 2010. The new one make formula aims
to provide competitors with a car of high performance, good handling
on a variety of surfaces, plentiful supply and reasonable costs to build
and maintain.
MDA Chairman, Ron Watson commented: "Since 1978 the MDA has promoted low cost racing and introduced
new talent into motorsport. During that time the iconic Mini has been
used exclusively for our sport and we recognise that the “ Classic
" Mini will never die and always have a loyal following. By introducing
the new MINI Cooper into the championship structure we are offering
progression, innovation and a different driving experience for new and
old competitors alike."
At the 2008 MDA AGM proposals were put forward by Brian and Neil Wade,
two of the MDA's long standing supporters, to build a new MINI for Minicross.
In tune with the policy of providing low cost, exciting motorsport the
car chosen was the new MINI Cooper. The Technical Regulations carefully
balance the need for competitive racing at affordable cost in a single
championship class to run alongside existing Minicross class structures.
After the initial test at Teesside Autodrome, results were extremely
encouraging. The 1.6 litre MINI Cooper engine now produces a strong
150+ bhp and the car weighs in at 940 kgs. No major problems were encountered
during the build and the whole project is within the cost budget that
was set before the start of the project.
A programme of continuous development is scheduled for the car, aimed
at producing more horsepower and improved handling, whilst keeping costs
at an affordable level. Draft technical regulations are now available
together with a fact sheet detailing suppliers, costs and hints and
tips on building your own car. The price to build your own car is approximately
£3500 plus the cost of a donor car - costing between £2200
and £3500. Therefore a competitive new Minicross car can be put
on the track for as little as £5700.
The car will make its first public appearance at the opening round of
the 2009 Fuchs Lubricants Rallycross Open Championship which takes place
at Croft Circuit (Darlington) on Sunday March 22nd. The car will race
in the Procar 2000 category.
To maintain control, quality and ensure costs of the build are kept
to a minimum, the MDA will supply the following controlled parts:
- Rollcage
- ECU and throttle linkage
- Camshaft
- Fibreglass body panels
- Polycarbonate side and rear windows
- Avon Cooper Zeon tyres
The MDA would like to thank the following for their technical help and
enthusiastic support without which this project could not have progressed
so well in such a short time:

Kent Cams
Cooper Tyres
Corbeau Seats
